Dainty Jewelry Obsession

1

8If you’re like me, you might have an obsession with dainty jewelry. Now don’t get me wrong, I love rocking a chunky gold bracelet or a bold statement necklace – but there’s something really elegant in a simple piece of jewelry.

I recently stumbled upon Verse – a beautiful Etsy shop that sells stunning jewelry. The owner Monica (who was an absolute pleasure to communicate with – so sweet and caring), was so kind to send me some amazing pieces from her collection at Verse.

If you like what you see, you’re in luck – Monica is offering FREE SHIPPING on all orders over $15 when you use the promo code SMALLTOWN. What a great deal!

I love how Verse has options to personalize a lot of their jewelry – how cute is the initial gold bar necklace? There’s also adorable gifts like the wish bracelets for your Greek family too. Every piece of jewelry at Verse seems to have some story or meaning attached to it no matter what, which I think is so unique and special. It’s hands-down one of the best places to look for gifts for friends, bridesmaids, your mom, etc.

Country Music Festival Outfits

1 med

8 medConfession time: I can’t stop obsessing over my new boots from Country Outfitter! Washington’s huge country music festival, Watershed, is happening this weekend and I FINALLY got tickets for the first time ever. I can’t wait! The lineup includes Tim McGraw, Lady Antebellum, Kip Moore, Randy Houser, Chase Rice, Justin Moore, Eli Young Band, Jake Owen, Billy Currington, Cassadee Pope, and many more. I think I might faint when I see Tim McGraw, but it will be worth it.

I got some super cute tanks courtesy of a few stores – Tumbleroot and Dentz Design – to be featured on my blog that are perfect for a country music festival so I decided to show y’all some cute outfits! For all you LA people out there, I know Stagecoach is a long way away but it’s never too early to start planning, right? I also posted some fun outfit ideas of how to wear cowboy boots with dresses earlier this week, so check that out too as well as my post a while back around the time of Stagecoach with more outfit inspiration!

Oh, and I forgot to mention the best part – I have COUPONS GALORE for you all! This hilarious “Red, White, and Beer” tank is from Dentz Design (an Etsy store I literally want to buy out – everything is too stinkin’ cute and sassy). If you enter in SMALLTOWNROOTS at checkout, you’ll get 25% off there! They have the best gifts for bachelorette parties and future brides too. I just love it!

The other coupon is for Verse Shop – a stunning Etsy store that I fell in love with. In the pictures below, I’m wearing a gold heart initial necklace and a turquoise tassel bracelet from there. If you enter SMALLTOWN at checkout, you can get free shipping on orders over $15! Stay tuned for another post soon showcasing more of their pieces on the blog soon!

9 medHow adorable is this tank from Tumbleroot? I fell in love with it the minute I saw it. “Boots, class, and a little sass” is pretty much how you could describe me.

If you love country music like I do, then you HAVE to check out Tumbleroot – they have the cutest shirts and tanks with country music lyrics written out on them. On second thought, maybe don’t check them out because you’ll be tempted to buy EVERYTHING!

10 med17 medOkay so this is defnitely a more “festival-y” outfit. You can definitely wear anything you want to music festivals and that’s part of the beauty of it!

How to Wear Cowboy Boots with Dresses

square

Country Outfitter - boots with dressesEver wonder how to style cowboy boots with dresses? I received this gorgeous pair of boots from Country Outfitter to style with different dresses and it was so much fun! (psssst – want $20 off a pair of boots? click here!)

Cowboy boots can be worn with almost everything and that’s what makes them so great. You can wear them as work boots when you’re grubbing around outside or you can dress them up for a date night – the options are endless!

I styled my boots with three different types of dresses – a boho short dress, a casual maxi, and a fun and flirty high-low dress!

Boho Vibe

19

I adore this dress from Texas Roots as you can probably tell since it’s make appearances in a few other posts of mine. It’s so light and flowy which makes it extremely versatile. I’ve worn it to my sorority formal but you can also dress it down as I have here.

I paired the dress with a boho crochet cardigan from T.J.Maxx and accessories from Charlotte Russe. The boots add just the perfect finishing touch to the whole outfit – giving it a boho yet country vibe.

This is by far one of my favorite outfits in my whole wardrobe and now I have the perfect boots to go with it!

Casual Maxi

5med

Another way to wear cowboy boots is a more casual look like this. I absolutely love the pattern on this Charlotte Russe print maxi dress! It has a little bit of that country vibe and the slit up the leg adds a little allure. I paired it with a denim jacket to make it a little more casual but you could also dress this outfit up by adding some nice earrings or a chunky necklace.

I normally wouldn’t put cowboy boots under a maxi dress just because it would get really hot, but the leg opening of this dress showcases the boots beautifully as well as provide a little ventilation.

Fun and Flirty High-Low

25

This is such a fun look! This red high-low dress was actually given to me by my older sister as a hand-me-down and it fit like a glove. Pairing it with this beautiful crochet and lace vest gives it a more relaxed look. I love how the chunky necklace from Charlotte Russe adds a little visual interest up towards the face.

Once again, the boots make the outfit! While you could definitely rock this outfit with some sandals, I think the boots go so well with it. Cowboy boots look amazing when paired with high-low dresses and skirts because they make it a little bit more casual without looking sloppy. The whole look is effortless!

Country Outfitter - boots with dressesWant $20 off a pair of boots? Click here! Country Outfitter has some of the most beautiful and fairly priced boots I’ve ever seen. It was so hard to pick just one – I’m sure I’ll be back for more!

I had so much fun with this post. I was tired of taking my own pictures, so I recruited my boyfriend to take them for me. We laughed so much and had such a great time doing it – he’s truly a saint. I know there’s so many famous bloggers who secretly have their boyfriends behind the camera and now I know why. There’s nothing better than having somebody who loves you, knows you well, and  thinks you’re beautiful to take pictures of you!

This post was sponsored by Country Outfitter. I received the pair of boots for this editorial post and received compensation. I also received the dress from Texas Roots free of charge for a post. All opinions and images are my own.

Outfit of the Day: July 26

Shirt: T.J.Maxx | Necklace: Charlotte Russe | Jeans: Hudson Jeans | Boots: Steve Madden | Bracelets: Charlotte Russe | Watch: Kate Spade

So my mom went to T.J.Maxx the other day and brought back this blouse for me. I wore it for one day and had about five different people stop me to tell me how much they loved it! It looks like it’s from Free People or Urban Outfitters, but guess what? My mom paid $16 for it! Now THAT’S the kind of bargain shopping I love.

I paired the top with a cute necklace from Charlotte Russe, jeans, and combat boots to create an edgy/boho vibe. I think this top would look super cute styled with some high waisted denim shorts too though!

Outfit of the Day: July 22

I’m finally back to work after being on vacation for the past week!

Spoiled by the hot Eastern Washington weather last week, 60 degrees and cloudy feels freezing to me. In order to stay warm and still maintain a summery vibe, I paired my floral pants with a flowy white tee. The pop of color in this cute Charlotte Russe necklace brightens the whole outfit up! I topped it all off with some gold jewelry, booties, and a light anorak coat.

Since I’m still in my 30 day challenge of embracing my natural hair, I decided to try a new hairstyle. I reverse braided each side into a messy low bun. I love how this turned out and it was super easy – definitely something I can easily do on rainy, dreary winter days.

Outfit of the Day (It’s Been a While!)

ootd july 12

ootd july 12

I know it’s been FOREVER since I’ve done just a simple outfit of the day post, so here ya go!

I actually wore this a few days ago (since I’m currently in Eastern Washington camping and being grubby right now), but I loved it and wanted to share!

I absolutely adore this floral kimono from Charlotte Russe – it’s extremely lightweight and flowy. It completes any simple outfit like this one! Seriously, a white tank and high-waisted shorts make for a pretty boring outfit – but throw on this feisty kimono and suddenly it’s a super trendy look. I just really love how you can take two basics like denim shorts and a white tank and transform it with just one piece!

These high-waisted shorts from Urban Outfitters (similar here) have been a staple in my wardrobe for almost two years now. They’re perfect for the summer because they go with almost everything, but have that little bit of edgy look to them to really step the outfit up a notch.

This white tank from Frenchi (a Nordstrom brand) is perfect for hot weather because it’s so lightweight. It’s made of of chiffon-like material, so it can be dressed up as well. I have three of these and wear them all the time!

The silver, chunky Charlotte Russe necklace adds a whole new dimension to the look which I love. Then throw on the braided belt (also from Charlotte Russe) and some cute sandals from Steve Madden and the outfit is complete! I also wore some simple silver bracelets and rings to go with the necklace and add that finishing touch.

Talk Derby to Me

8 medium

How would YOU style this adorable derby hat from Marley Lilly? I was so thrilled when they sent me this gorgeous piece a while back! I decided to showcase it by styling it two different ways – beach vs. brunch! While it’s a perfect poolside companion, it would also look fabulous to polish off a fancier look.

This wide-brim hat is perfect for protecting your face, shoulders, chest, and hair from harmful UV rays.  I will definitely be taking it with me on every trip I take this summer for that sole reason (well, plus it’s absolutely adorable!). I really love how it’s fairly neutral too, so it can be worn with almost any swimsuit you may have. Throwing on a cute cover-up over your suit would totally polish off the look! I definitely think this also adds a little glamour to your typical poolside wear – it gives you a chic and sophisticated look without seeming like you’re trying too hard.

I also think this piece is perfect for brunch with the girls! How cute does it look paired with a fit-and-flare dress from Charlotte Russe and some wedges from Hope’s? It would look gorgeous with a sundress too! It definitely adds that extra something special to an outfit. I love how the lace of this dress flatters my chest and draws attention up to the face. The mixed textures of lace and straw – they look stunning together! If you wore this hat to a horse race or a “fratalina wine mixer” or derby party, you would absolutely be the star of the show!

I love how the hat’s brim has wiring all around it so that you can shape it however you want. In these pictures I have the wire straightened out, so it just naturally flops around my face but you could absolutely structure it a little so that it has more defined waves and curves! So fun!

Be sure to check out Marley Lilly for an abundance of adorable monogram items – I want everything from there!

Look of the Night: Watercolor Maxi Dress

5 medium

16 medium
I joined my sister, her fiance, and my mom at Alexa’s Cafe in Bothell for a tasting for a potential caterer for my sister’s wedding. The cafe is located on the main street with other fun bars, restaurants, and shops. The food was delectable – pulled pork with coleslaw and apple cinnamon sauce, corn on the cob, bacon baked beans, a citrus salad, and super moist Nutella brownies.

They offer some incredible catering services and work well with my sister’s venue, so they are definitely one of her top picks! They also function as a regular restaurant, so I can’t wait to come back sometime soon to sample the rest of their menu. The service was friendly and the woman we met with was so accommodating – definitely a wonderful and comfortable atmosphere! They even have movie nights and live music frequently so it’s definitely a strong community. I highly recommend checking it out if you’re in the area!

Since it was boiling hot outside, I threw on my favorite watercolor maxi dress from a flea market in Cambodia. I paired it with Mix No. 6 sandals (similar here) from DSW and a chunky, boho necklace from Charlotte Russe (similar here).

I know I’m not wearing my hair natural, but this is the first day I’ve heat styled it in two and a half weeks. I had a nice work event last night that I wanted to look super polished and chic at, so I made the call to style it nicely. But don’t worry, I’ll be back to wearing my hair natural for the next two weeks! If you’re wondering what the heck I’m talking about, read all about my natural hair journey here.

Floral Summer Playsuit

11 med

Charlotte Russe RomperSo who else is absolutely head-over-heels in love with this playsuit from Charlotte Russe? Not only are the colors and print stellar, but it fits like a glove. It’s made out of chiffon-like material, so it’s extremely light and can be dressed up or down. I can’t wait to pair it with a crisp, white blazer and some flats for my internship!

How cute would it look with some nude heels and a big sock bun? I also love the gold jewelry with it! There are just so many options with this one! I just can’t wait to wear it all the time this summer.

Definitely check out Charlotte Russe for some gorgeous rompers and playsuits for the summer – they have a great selection at extremely affordable prices.

Oh! Did you guys notice a change? I’m wearing my hair 100% natural for 30 days! It’s a personal challenge I’ve made for myself to become more comfortable in my own skin. I wrote a post all about it earlier, so check it out!

Today officially marks the 9th day of the challenge! It’s definitely been difficult to resist the urge to heat-style it, but surprisingly enough I’ve already noticed it growing more. I’ve also received so many compliments on my hair – my confidence has increased dramatically!
