#TransformationTuesday: Losing My Freshman Fifteen

Transformation Tuesday

Today I thought I’d tell you all a little bit about my switch to a healthier lifestyle that took place last year. After gaining the expected “Freshman 15,” I was feeling really out of sorts. My energy and self-confidence were both at low points.

When summer hit, I was ready to shed those fifteen pounds with a renewed sense of determination. I began attending exercise classes at my gym and participating in some sort of physical exercise for at least thirty minutes per day. I began eating healthier – more fruits, veggies, lean protein, and water.

It’s been hard keeping it up since I’ve been back to school, but it’s so rewarding to be able to maintain a healthy weight. I was never overweight in the first place, but after dropping fifteen pounds, I look much more healthy and fit. I have more energy and feel so much better – mentally and physically.

I’m still a work in progress. I want to run a half-marathon by the time I graduate college. I’ve got a long way to go, but sharing images like this helps me stay motivated. I hope someday to inspire others to live a healthier lifestyle. It is such hard work, but it is beyond worth it.

  • I really hope you stick to your goal and run a half marathon! It was the best thing I ever did for my body and my mind. The sense of accomplishment is like nothing else. The appreciation you have for your beautiful body is something that will stick with you. Good Luck and post about your progress. I’d love to read about your journey :) Go Madeleine Go!

    • Thank you SO much Chelsie! I feel like setting a goal such as running a half marathon is a much more healthy goal to work towards than me just saying “oh, I want to lose 10 pounds.” I want to see my body grow strong and accomplish something I never thought possible! I set this goal after attending the Pretty and Pink & Team True Beauty event, by the way! (: Oh, I forgot to mention – my post about that event will be up when I get back to school from break. I was silly and left my notebook with all the notes I scribbled there at school.

Thank you so much for the encouragement Chelsie! xoxo

  • I gained over 50lbs in college and here I am at 26 finally feeling better about myself! (and back to a healthy weight) I love a good weight loss story, they are so motivating to others going through the same thing! Good work girl :)

    • Oh my gosh, congratulations! That is amazing! Thank you so much for your encouragement – as I’m sure you know, it means the world when people support your journey to a healthier lifestyle.

  • Wait, your hair looks so different!! But on a serious note, good for you! I’d love to read any recipes you have to share — I hate veggies!

    • I hate veggies too! The way I find it manageable is by putting them in smoothies. I have a raspberry/blueberry smoothie almost every morning and I packing full of spinach. You don’t even taste it! I’ll post some recipes soon (:
